Tile Layout, struggling with the design Master Bathroom

I have almost all of the design figured out, we are going for the look of the tile layout of the first picture i posted...

I posted pictures of the progress into the shelves. I have two options in the shelf area.

What we already know is that the decorative tile is going into the shelves into the back of the shelves and covering the whole back part instead of the 6 inch strip..... Then after that is the tricky part. Where we have 12 inch tiles halfway up that then turn into diagonal tiles on the top half of the room.... The shelf wall has thrown in a curveball. To get the tile to match up, the front of the shelves (spaces between them would be really off with the grout lines)

So our ideas so far.. tell me if you think this would be bet or change it and i am open to suggestions.

What we are thinking is inside the shelves on the face, sides and bottom/tops to put the 6 inch in straight pattern no diamond or anything.... then coming outside of the shelves make it the 2x2 tiles as on the shower bench and the shower floor making a full accent wall starting in the right corner.

Any pictures you have to show me or any further suggestions would be appreciated.

Tiles I can work with are:

12" 2x2 tiles
3x12 bullnose
12 inch tile
6 inch tile.

No other options are in this tile that we have chosen.

You have a band of accent mosaic going across the back wall of your bath and then attempting to proceed into the shelving niche in a nonchalant way as if the change in plane, angles, and surfaces didn't happen or didn't matter. That's where 1 awkwardness is coming from. I see you realized this and are planning to do solid mosaic in the niche(s?).

Awkwardness 2 is the way to diagonal tiles will look when you try to plaster them in and around the niches. Since the flat space around the niches has very little area, there will be a lot of cut tiles and the pattern will look really choppy. The diagonal won't have a chance to really get going in any direction and it will also be a hellish job for the tiler. So I'd suggest finding a way to terminate the diagonal before you reach the niche wall. Maybe use 6" squares. I'd do a detailed layout on paper before I bought or mortared any more tiles.

Right thanks soberg, what I am leaning for, is using the same size tiles the one inch or 2 inch tiles all through the accent wall from tub face to ceiling and yes the mosiac will enter the niches, and then take over the back of the wall and then leave as the same 6 inch strip out the other side right in the middle strip

Thanks for the sugesstion, This project took a back seat to the others ie Nursery however I really appreciate the response.
