Wired or wired door chimes

We are doing over our first floor. This ugly circa 1990 wired door chime is on the living room wall. Electrician said it would be big $$$ to
move it( my first choice). My other options is to have him
remove it totally and get a wireless or get another wired, all the wired door chime units are so ugly and /or $$ . Hardly anyone uses the doorbell anyway. I don't want an eyesore in my pretty new living room( which is going to be painted
btw! Thanks!

Good choice to remove this from this exposed wall. Wireless door chimes will fail eventually as they are battery powered. Moving this chime anywhere is easy. The wire is low cost and may be spliced in the wall without access. There maybe drywall damage in performing this location change but now is the time! Hard to understand why the electrician would charge big $$ for this task? Agree with clear lighting sound like a ripoff to me.

Cost is relative. It cost more than the doorbell is worth just to get the electrician to come in the door. If you have other things for the electrician to do at the same time, it could be much more cost effective. It is hard to get an electrician to drive across town to change a light bulb for less than $100.
