mixing cabinet finish colors
November 23, 2013 in Design Dilemma
I am remodeling the basement and have honey oak finish on my bar cabinets. I am having book shelves built around the tv. Would having a black distressed finish be ok. They are on opposite ends of the room

Yes, you can mix the two of them. To help pull them together add a mixture of both the honey wood colors and the black around the room. Oak wooden picture frame with black bead detail for art work. Maybe think about adding some black fluted detail with black decorative corbels to the back side of bar area.

Does the bar area have case cabinets and upper cabinets? If so, you could have the base cabinets black and the uppers the honey oak, or add a black glaze to the honey oak cabinets.

Add a black countertop on the bar area. There are many things you can do to make it work.
