Need Help with Our New Living Room
Lucy Nazaretyan
November 30, 2013 in Design Dilemma
We just reconfigured our space by mounting the TV above the fireplace. Now the room looks empty and we need ideas in changing the original lighting fixture, accent chairs by the window, perhaps a larger rug and some decor on the walls. Any help is appreciated!

Can you move the couch so it faces the fireplace?

I tried earlier. The space is tight so you open the front door into the back of the couch.

I'm thinking you already tried the TV on the wall and the couch in front of the windows? I know you just hung the TV but this doesn't look like the best layout for the space which in turn won't enhance the design/furnishings of the room. :(

A large print or painting over the sofa would add a lot of interest. I would add a comfortable club chair to the mix or two where the chairs are now with a table and lamp. I like the rug, but the sheers seem like the wrong color, How about white with print panels at the end. Try to hide the wires on the mantle.

Would like a more monochromatic color scheme or do you want to add color ?

pop of color would be nice. the couches are a "sage" color but with different lighting it looks gray or blue. so I'm having a hard time with an art piece and accent chairs.

I think you could take inspiration from the colors in this bedroom. I do think you could keep the art very neutral like in the picture and add your color with curtains and pillows and throws and accessories.

You can keep the area rug very calm as well. This is adding some color without adding too much.
