Combining different woods in one room
December 2, 2013 in Design Dilemma
I'm redoing my bedroom and the only furniture i currently own is a brushed stainless steel bed. I just bought a dresser (pic attached) that is cool as is, but dinged up, so I'm having it stripped and refinished. It's RWay mahagony, so not valuable, but does what I need it to do. Question is: how does one decide whether another wood, teak, walnut, cherry etc will work with it (ie for a nightstand)? I want to warm up the bedroom with some wood, but maybe one highboy dresser is plenty?? I'm not really sure whether the mahogony will read on the red side, or the browner side. I don't like things to match too much. Oh, and the room is not that big.
