need help finding rug to go alongside current rug
malgorzzzzzataDecember 3, 2013
hi! I have an oriental rug in a blue/grey/beige scheme on one side of the living room and need help finding a rug that will look ok alongside it. Not sure if i should just get a solid rug or another oriental rug with a beige scheme. I saw a red/beige/black oriental rug that i liked but i have no eye for whether or not it will look good next to the current rug. Any help is appreciated!

Would help if we could see the room where these two rugs will be used.

Ya a picture of the room would help. If they're going to be in seperate areas of the room you could do a solid rug with some texture maybe ....... see below some ideas from my collection in greys. You could also do a brigh blue or red IMO. The whole idea of area rugs is adding to the space & comfort & most important - having fun !

I would stay in the blue grays, same design, it's ok to mix up rug patterns as long as in same color range. You could go a navy blue, with grays and black and would be fine.

house is currently in transition so its kind of a mess and i don't have any photos. if it helps, its a log cabin with very dark brown walls and mostly brown/beige furniture. something to lighten it up would help.

thanks for your suggestions!

If you can get away with it, I would choose a solid off-white or very light gray, in a low shag. It would be a nice modern, yet subtle, contrast that would also lighten up the room. If you have kids or dogs, however, a light color may not be the best idea! Then I would stick to a medium bluish-gray. I do like the options that Artajul Rugs presents above.

I think Visual Jill is giving you great advice and the Arajul Rugs have great texture. How close will the two be to each other?

They will basically be right next to each other so something that plays off the oriental would be best. Thanks for your help everyone!
