I think a glass tile backsplash with neutrals like beige, black, brown and even white to lighten it up. Something like the attached picture.

Hi cschu, Congrats on your kitchen remodel! Any white or off-white would look nice -- Recent Work

What would you like to say? I agree with the previous contractor, here are some samples that I think would look great in your kitchen. I selected them from The Tile Shop www.tileshop.com Best of luck!

What color is the floor and will the room be painted? That, along with your hardware and appliances can be used as a starting point, You could use the backsplash to create a focal point. Of course there are hundreds of other options, but from what I can see in your picture a mosaic would add a lot of interest to the room.

Agree with Emerson and NEMM .. a glass, linear mosaic or a stone/glass mosaic would look good. Lowe's has a lot of these in stock .. buy a few samples and take them home.

Awesome, thank you! I will keep the walls white and I have light wood floors.

I think stainless steel penny tiles would look great. The backsplash area is small enough to handle it. Either this hex or round would look great.
