Uneven Wall In Basement Stairwell
shaggyfezDecember 7, 2013
We are renovating our home and the wall in the workshop at the bottom of the stairs is a little off from where the upper wall terminates (just discovered that when the drywall went up). I don't really care for the solution shown. Does anyone have a design idea to make it look better? I think it would be onerous to move the wall over now, and there is a door and bulkhead at the bottom of the stairs. Suggestions would be appreciated.

Other than actually straightening it or covering it up with something, I think your best option would be to paint it a darker color in a matte finish, in order to minimize the shadow, and adjust the lighting so that it does not draw attention to that corner.

Can you afford to hire someone to fix the drywall so you don't have to try to hide that? If so, that's what you need to do.

If even lip all the way you can trim it. If not remove lower sheetrock fir wall out from lip down and rehang rock. Not too hard or costly.
