I went with a large single with an integrated drainboard -- LOVE it

I like single bowl, but. I also wash my small dogs in the sink :)

A large single bowl as Brenda posted offers more flexibility.

I like a double bowl in a 70/30 configuration. This puts the disposal in a smaller sink and can be used regardless of what is going on in the primary sink.

There are even more options. Work center sinks are the ultimate in versatility. Check out the Poise and Stages sinks that Mick De Giulio designed for Kohler.

When I work on my kitchen I'll be getting a (hopefully an antique) farmhouse sink. I don't have a dishwasher & also give my kitties a bath in the sink! I wouldn't dream of carving up my original cabinets.

Thank you for your comments and help. Greatly appreciated. We are getting stainless appliances, granite countertops and tile back splash. Any thoughts on stainless vs. white?

By a white sink, do you mean porcelain cast iron? It's good for bathtubs and is very quiet but difficult to keep clean and the finish can chip. It also requires extra support in an undermount installation.

One more option might be a Blanco Silgranit sink. I'm very fond of mine and you could choose a color that works with your granite. I like single bowl - actually mine is Silgranit "Cascade" which is just a bit different than single bowl.

I just found the Kohler Poise sink. Thanks for the lead. Its beautiful, but at $2300 it blows our budget. I'll search for something similar, and hopefully less expensive.

Now that's a pricey sink!
