Boring White Box Bedroom!

I have a boring square bedroom and I'm stumped on what to do. The bedroom adjacent has a whimsical Cole & Son blue colored wallpaper on one accent wall, so I don't think I want to do wallpaper again. There are no architectural features in the room and seemingly no place to build them in. Any suggestions? The house is in the country. Thank you!

Some idea of what type of design you like would be helpful, modern, eclectic, traditional etc.

Thanks everyone! This is a country house in The Poconos, so I'm thinking of a rustic modern theme. If I just paint the room a nice color will that be boring? Should I do something more or is this just about plain old paint and layering on art, furniture, and textiles?

I would paint the room a deep warm beige/brown color such as Benjamin Moore Tumeric AF-350 or BM Etruscan AF-355 to warm up the room and make it feel cozy. Warm brown furniture (not cherry which has a red tint) coordinates wonderfully with these colors. Then find bedding with these colors plus bright accent colors to spruce up the room. Yelow is very popular right now in addition to teal and light blue with different shades of brown.

Here are some "rustic" looks -- it's simple, uncomplicated color scheme, mostly neutrals. Starting with a basic color as have been suggested, and keep the color pops to accessories. Good plain furniture. Creating this room could take some time, looking for exactly the right item (if you're picky). If you're willing to step "outside the box," you can make this room stunning and inviting despite its size and current boringness.
