Hand scraped hardwood floors

We are considering using hand scraped hardwood floors in our home. Does anyone have experience with durability, comfort, and if any problems with refinishing?

When I was looking for my hardwood flooring I asked about refinishing hand scraped wood; I was told that the floor would have to be sanded smooth again to remove all of the old finish. I guess it could also be hand scraped but I'm pretty sure it would cost a small fortune to do so. Then again, by the time your finish has worn to the point you have to refinish, the hand scraped look might be out of vogue and you won't mind having smooth floors.

I have Homerwood handscraped walnut floors and love, love, love them. They were prefinished as I didn't want the mess of sanding and I wanted the "tougher" finish of prefinished. Due to that very tough finish of the prefinished floor, I'm not sure I'll ever need to get them refinished, plus handscraped makes small dents and scratches just part of the character. So, I can't speak to refinishing, since I haven't had any need for that.

I think handscraped floors can be refinished without sanding them smooth:)
