I have Reed & Barton silverware ... not this shell pattern though. They come out gleaming from the dishwasher and they are made very well.

Really like the sea shells!

I'm amused you posted this because I was just thinking about posting something similar after going cutlery hunting today. I really like Oneida Flight - I like the design and I LOVE the way the knife feels in your hand. However, the Other Parties who have to also agree don't like the asymmetry of the design, and I haven't had luck in tracking down alternatives that have similarly comfortable handles. (The Oneida Flight has a fairly thick handle, with nicely rounded edges. So there's no corners to press awkwardly against arthritic joints in the hand - so much fun - and is easier to grip without looking like it belongs in a nursing home.)

Very good point pirate foxy, also look at grip on some French provincial designs. Very good thinking, MMM trend has too many narrow handles on the market.

I found out from experience; you really need to see a pattern in person, heft it, and decide if you like it. I would be worried a little about the curls in the knife handles collecting glurp even if you dishwasher it. (I was in lust with Oneida Chandelier pattern for a long time, and it took about 20 years before I finally encountered a teaspoon of it; and found it looked a lot cheaper in person... plus the feel) I would say, Nancy, go with what feels good to you.

Hi OkDokeGal, yes indeed, choosing flatware is like buying shoes or pants, you must try it on yourself to see how it feels. :)

Ed, I believe that pattern you posted is the one that I ordered only soup spoons for, good weight, great spoons! My daily set was ordered from Cambridge Silversmiths however--7 years and going strong.

Hi Solincia, yes, both the weight and the shapes matter. :)

They look good. If they feel good in your hand, that is what matters. It's a personal preference. I, for example, prefer flatware that is "skinnier". I like the Cutipol Moon. We use it all the time

Also, the Stiletto are really pretty and comfortable

I have a stainless pattern similar to the larger spoon (might be Gorham?) and I hate how it falls off the plate when clearing the table because the handles are too heavy.

Agree with all who said must see and feel.... Also, consider your china style and house style. You chose a very traditional pattern almost 18th C. Would not mix well with a farm kitchen or in a sleek urban environment.... Be sure it's 18/10.

I remember from previous posts that Nancy is building a beach home and has a classic style so her choice of stainless is perfect! Many of us like a heavy substantial silverware with a traditional look and feel, more like old sterling.

I have some teaspoons from C&B (the ones from the open stock). They are quite heavy.
