Benjamin Moore (BM) Gotham or Granite with Revere Pewter

mrsmoose7December 21, 2013
I have a 20x14 ft family room with a cathedral ceiling, which I am in the midst of redecorating. After a couple of weeks or searching and what seems like gathering hundreds of paint chips, I settled on BM Revere Pewter for my main paint color. The 4th wall features a black marble fireplace with white wood surround/mantel and two long sunburst windows. This being my feature wall will be painted a darker accent color. I need help in deciding what gray to put on it - I tried SW Mink, but that looked very taupey/brown in the daytime, though it darkened to gray at night. I think it's a choice between BM Granite or BM Gotham. What do you say? Any input would be appreciated. Also, I would love some recommendations for paint color for the wooden fireplace surround and the baseboards and trim around the room - I would like something relatively neutral/flexible as this room opens upto the kitchen.

One of the darker shades from the RP color strip card would be my suggestion.

Paint colors vary to rooms they are in. The amount of light etc. stay with BM paint they are good. Just keep trying until it's right. Revere has a blue undertone, so look for those . You can do accent walls in different shades of same color. Keep trim white. All rooms that flow together paint the same.

Take a look at BM Graystone for the darker fireplace walls. I think it is the right combo with the black marble. For the white trim, BM White Dove should work with the Revere Pewter.

I like Gotham. Granite is a cooler color than Gotham. I have Revere Pewter and I love it!
