What to use instead of TPO roofing for flat(ish) roof?
December 22, 2013 in Design Dilemma
We are building a new home with a mostly flat roof line. Our options for roofing are TPO, metal, living or rock. We don't like any of these options and were wondering what creative ideas our houzz community may have come up with?
Incidentally, we look down at the house as we come down the pathway

TPO roofs are pretty great. Maybe you can mask it with landscaping between the house and the path?

Is outdoor living space on the roof a option? Regardless, you'll have to waterproof with a rubber membrane if you don't go with metal. The question is, now what do you want to cover / conceal the membrane with. Is the roof engineered for the additional weight?

You do have a few different waterproofing membranes you can use or metal. Single plys are TPO, EPDM or PVC whereas 2 plys are called Torch On. Depending on the climate you some single plys are better than others I suggest speaking with a roof contractor. 2 ply torch is by far superior over any single ply .better than others
