Currently decorationg house "industrial flair"
December 26, 2013 in Design Dilemma
Currently decorating house with pre-industrial style. Daughter's bedroom (two walls) currently painted Tiffany Blue. Has given me permission to carry out the industrial style in her room. How do you do this? Remaining interior hues in house are ore, taupe and wheat.

Look for wrought iron accents and think about concrete color for the walls...I like BM Elmira White or Pratt & Lambert Armory

Furniture made of steel and reclaimed wood is industrial. Maybe nightstands?

How old is she? Assuming she is a teen, try something warm gray with pink accents. Paint the room in a neutral with the bed wall being the deeper stone tone - like on the accent wall and for the main walls
good with clean white trim and furnishings. Add a bright duvet folded at the bottom of the bed / otherwise, white or pale pink
Consider using galvinized hardware strapping on the closet doors and exit door, and if you need to paint furniture, try kendall charcoal

She is a teen. I would love to change the color of the walls except...... the paint was just applied less than two months ago. We have decided to go with a "Katherine Hepburn" theme. We will be keeping the wall color, adding mirror furniture and a crystal chandalier chandelier on a smaller scale. Love your color suggestions. Very similiar color scheme I have added to the remaining parts of the house.

campaign style chests - diy versions would work with the old hollywood concept and hep tie to house. . . try large scale b+w photo over the bed to bridge the gap and add 40's "antique" industrial stand fan or studio type light, typewriter - old camera (again, some diy-ish) - hers can be the movie set in your 'loft' with some tie ins . . . west elm has velvet drapery now on grommets in ivory - that would help complete the look.
