Help please--Exterior Wall Height

December 28, 2013 in Design Dilemma
We are building (well my Father is) our new home, all metal frame, it will be almost all free span, we are working on some design decisions with regards to exterior wall height....should we go 8, 9 or 10 foot exterior walls, 8' seems to short but I don't know if overall 10 foot is too tall , I am attaching an exterior picture of a house that is similar to the look we are going for. Thanks for any and all help!

I personally would not do anything less than 9', but this style could be very nice at 10'.

(9') is the norm given the industry now makes 9' wall board. I personally use 10' 2x6 exterior walls with double plating the top and bottom for a total height of 10'6". This does require 8' doors which given the taller average height of todays population is a plus, but it is a cost you may not want to pay.
