Mantle

I was wondering if I should leave the stonework white on my mantle. The walls are light tan. I don't have much white in my home.

The stonework looks great...I wouldn't touch it. Your holiday decorations are very nicely done.

Yes, leave it alone. Plan a trip away somewhere instead.

I think the stone work is lovely. and it looks like the built-ins on the sides of the fireplace are painted white, so you certainly have SOME white in your home ...

Not clear what you are concerned about.

The bookshelves are painted the same tan as the walls. The mantle was so stark white when we first built the house. I think it is toning down a bit with age.

Have a wedding reception in your pretty room, with a white clad bride.

It is lovely and ifyou feel the need of something white on the side wby not white objects or white and a color you also use as an accent color in the room. White pottery or white bookcovers or other objects.... Really lovely in the pboto right now.

Hello, sounds like you are feeling a need to update and fine tune this area of your room and if the photograph is capturing the variation in the white tones between the upper mantle details and the mantel/lower fireplace surround accurately then I suggest you tone down the starker white above to blend with the subtler tones below.

Enjoy your lovely space.

I personally love your mantle - very classy and not too stuffy. I would leave it as is.

Love your home and the fireplace. Would also love to see it when the holiday decor is down as your style looks soooo beautiful!

Very pretty. Paint bookcases same white. Maybe the wall color is a little to light. Would like to see more of that room.

I agree with Chrisico Interiors in toning down the white. IF they shades of color are as varied as shown in the photo, the upper area looks a bit top heavy..that is my personal opinion, not that of Chrisico.

I think it would look better if matched the fireplace surround.
