Need help choosing color scheme for new couch!!

My husband bought a couch, the Paula Deen Ibiza sofa in wheat to be exact, I'm less than thrilled! He said I was taking too much time deciding. I had decided on a red oriental rug but now I am unsure. I want to go for a French Country or Traditional look. Please excuse our Christmas mess!!!
