Room for Teenage son needs updating
December 30, 2013 in Design Dilemma
My son is now 15. He is too tall for his old bunk-beds and would like to update his bedroom to be more adult. Trouble is, the room is tiny. The best we can hope for (I think) is to get a double bed and even then it will be very cramped (see attached). He has some special needs, so this is likely to be his room well into adulthood. The wardrobe is necessary because he has no usable closet. The area that looks like a closet on the plan is actually cut in half diagonally by the stairs, and I'm thinking of putting built in drawers for him there. There is an electrical panel on the wall with the wardrobe. I hesitate to put the bed against the window, because this is a ground floor room and the window is meant to be emergency egress. Any help with furniture choosing/placement would be awesome. Thanks!
