Using different countertop with kitchen peninsula

Would it look strange to have the peninsula countertop (8 feet) be a med. color wood and the rest of the countertops be a laminate? I've seen the mix with wood islands and like it but worry it would look odd with a peninsula. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

It's fine if the peninsula is at a different level than the rest of the kitchen to use different materials. Otherwise it's not an ideal setup.
