Is it a wall to wall carpet? Looks pretty neutral. I could see it working with the curtains, although I'm not 'loving it'. Would definitely change the striped pillow if you're going for the striped carpet.

Can you get a carpet sample, take it home and lay it on the floor under your curtains to see how it will look?

If it is to be wall to wall keep it plain, patterened carpet always makes the change of decor frustrating. If just an area carpet you will have to decide how many different striped patterns you can live with.

Agree with Patricia Colwell. Better go for a solid coloured one if it is wall to wall carpet. You can always look for something that has a structure in it if you find it too boring otherwise.
