Chandelier on the dining room

noualaJanuary 13, 2014
I'm thinking to get an opulent crystal dining room chandelier. I found a gorgeous one on costco but I'm afraid it will be too low on our everyday dining table.
So my question is :
What's the minimum distance a chandelier can be placed from the top of the table?

The chandelier you like is quite large and not knowing your ceiling height or the size of your diningroom table or the size of your room I hope this information will help. A chandelier should hang about 30" from the surface of the table to insure no bumped heads and good illumination.
A chandelier should be about 12" narrower than the width of the table over which it hangs.

That chandelier does not say "everyday dining table" to me. Please post a pic of the space you want to hang it for advice.

What are your ceiling heights? The chandelier from Costco is 4 feet in length, not including any hanging apparatus. And do you know the length of your table? I can't really tell from the photo. It is a beautiful fixture, but I am thinking it may be a tad too large.

Your ceiling looks higher than 8'. How high is it? :)

You would need at least 10' to not overpower the room.
