Facing sinks - how to update?
rlbibby
January 14, 2014 in Design Dilemma
We've just moved into a 1983 home and the master bath has two sinks that face each other, with a mirror in between; I've never seen this before and would appreciate help/ideas on how to update the look. Or any pictures of bathrooms with similar sink situation?

Have a look in Pin interest by looking up "back to back vanities". There are a number of lovely designs for different tastes to help you work on your own design.

Ah! Thanks! I had searched "facing sinks" in pinterest and not found much; "back to back" produced a lot more results. :)

Oh wow, what an awkward space!

Can you remove the two vanites, close one door and put a double vanity along one wall? Perhaps on the wall where you would close off the door that is closest to the shower?

Work involved for my suggestion above would be drywalling, painting, plumbing, electrical, flooring, and purchase of double vanity with countertop, sinks and faucets.

You would gain a lot more room in the bathroom AND create a wall for your bedroom for perhaps a TV, dresser, or a couple of chairs.

Look into the mirror frames that you glue on and see if they would work for back to back sinks. maybe you just trim out where they meet.

>anitanazar, thanks for the suggestion, i hadn't really thought about remodeling it that way, but i think it's an interesting idea, but definitely farther down the road.

>sunnydrew - this was along the lines of what i was thinking and looking for. Thanks for the link!

I like it as is and I don't think it is worth the trouble and expense of changing much, except maybe the faucets and the light fixture.
