I love the white woodwork. I heard that when you have white woodwork oil based paint can yellow. I'm going to have extensive woodwork painted white and I'm worried that it will turn yellow. The painter will use Benjamin Moore Impervo..Anyone had your trim painted with oil and it yellowed? Should I have him use Latex for the trim? Thanks!

Oil based paint can yellow over time due to a lack of light. So if your space doesn't get much natural light, you might want to use latex. BUT there's a lot of new technology in paint, so talk to the folks at your local paint stores if your painter isn't up on the latest info. I don't spec oil based paint anymore as the water based paints have come a long way and are easier to touch up. But my painter still prefers to use oil on cabinetry (not trim). It depends on the job--sometimes I let him win, sometimes he lets me!
