Can you identify this plant?

I'm hoping to identify the type of plant that is next to the brick in this photo. We lost it last year in a frost and I'd love to replace it! We live in Northern CA, in Zone 9, if that's at all helpful.

Thank you!

Need more info. Is it evergreen? Full sun, shade etc? Does it flower?

Take the picture to a local nursery as they're bound to know what it is.

I don't think that it ever flowered. Full sun. Evergreen. No photo of the leaves, unfortunately because this was taken last year before we lost the plant to the freeze, but they were waxy-ish.

It reminds me of pittosporum, but mine are more round. Is this one plant, or a couple?
