Suggestions for updating

We are planning on selling our house this spring and was trying to figure out what needs updating in my kitchen. I would like it to be appealing to more buyers than it probably would now. This is not my style anymore but am willing to do a little updating that wouldn't be too expensive...I do have time but not a lot of cash. ANY suggestions would be appreciated. The cabinets are white washed maple, the counter is a brown, black and very little cream granite. Also the flooring is white.

Thanks for advice. I got rid of the plaques on the soffit, painted the dark brown the same color as the other wall and got rid of the large valances. You'll have to ignore the "stuff" everywhere. Should have cleaned it up before I took the picture. Also...there's a doorbell box behind the clock so it had to stay. I think I've neutralized it. Not very exciting though. Hopefully it will help it sell after I clean it up and clear the counters. Thanks for the advice.

I would change the color above to cabinets (brown) to a light shade of green or even the same neutral as the walls and take down the valances. That would be the least expensive way to change it up.

Floor could be changed but it depends on the rest of the space and how much value that would really give you. Contact a realtor and they could also help you with what would help in your location.

You're right about that ugly brown up top. I will definitely change that. I would love to take those valances down but we did not save the "valance" that came with the blinds so we have nothing to cover the headrail with. Any suggestions on what I could do with the blinds?

Get rid of the valances, the clock and whatever that is above the fridge, a nice coat of paint I agree with a nice grey/ green, get rid of any clutter you might have, put fresh flowers on the table make sure everything is spotless even inside the cupboards and put it on the market, There really is nothing offensive in this space so save the money.

Better! When you show it be sure to remove the little over-the-door towel rack. Add a nice vase of fresh flowers on the table and a glass bowl of fruit on the counter.
