Which do you think are better and why: Plantation Shutters or Wood/Faux Wood Blinds?

I have wood shutters and wood blinds. They both look nice. The wood blinds are less expensive.

I value the 'architecture' that plantation shutters add to a room. They can take a boring box of a room, with uninteresting windows, and make it special.

is either photo of your room? or are you just asking question?

I prefer shutters, if budget allows. And would consider not covering whole window, just lower half for privacy and letting light in upper half. Unless it is a room which requires dark for sleeping or watching TV

We have three types of window coverings: plantation shutters, wooden blinds, and pleated shades that open from both the top and bottom. If I were wealthy, I would have had plantation shutters in the windows where we ended up with wooden blinds....but.....well, you probably know how that is. Ours cover the entire windows but the louvers are divided between the top and bottom. I am happy with the wooden blinds and the pleated shades as well. It all works for us in the designated spaces. The shades cover the windows in our entry doors so they are open most of the time; and in the bathroom that has windows. There, they are open only at the top.

For what it's worth, we have plantation shutters in our home. They cost a bit more, but to us, they were worth the investment. They look great and in some rooms they have eliminated the need for additional window treatments. I have no experience with the wood blinds. Good luck with everything.

I'm saving up for shutters, I've had wood blinds for years, nothing wrong with them, but I always ended up looking Ikea, when I wanted period......
