Using two rugs in one room

Can I use the same Moroccan design area rug, but different colors in one open concept family room? I already have the area rug in dark gray and I would like to know if I can repeat the pattern in another part of the room in dark navy?

I would say yes. For instance, you could have a different rug under a dinning table than one in your living room grouping. The two areas should share a common color though for continuity.

It depends. Is it a large room? Large enough where you have different areas. For instance, one area is for watching tv, that can have one rug. Then another area can have a table and chairs, or pool table, something that is a different area can be separated by the different furniture/rugs. Be sure to coordinate the furnishings in each separate area.
