What to do with this dining area?

We are trying to decide what to do with this small unused dining area. The furniture is going away. Should we make it into a TV area? I also thought of putting in sliding plantation doors to make it a craft area. Would love to hear some ideas... Thank you!

Dytecture and I are on the same page. A library but still dining area for reading, playing games and crafts.

Thank you, so you are suggesting built in cabinets?

It depends on your lifestyle and what you want to do with it. Its hard for us to decided how you live. I would not want to open the front door and see a messy craft room. Are you crafting everyday? Do you have another place to watch TV? I would leave it as a DR and use it as a craft space when needed. If in the future, you sell the house, people will want a DR.

If reading is something you enjoy, then yes built in cabinets for books and art and some closed cabinets to hold your craft supplies and games etc. I would love to have an area like that !

Thanks Mark, yes the reading area does sound nice. I'm not really sure what/how we are going to use the space. We bought this house recently, furnished. So it is going to 'morph' over the next few years as we prepare to live there permanently. We have a back room that currently has the TV. I agree with Tennisanyone, that opening the front door and seeing a messy craft room worries me. Does anyone think closing it off is a good idea?

I agree with all about creating a library /mutli-use area.
You mentioned the furniture is going. It's difficult to see, but .. would you consider trying your current dining table in the eating area off the kitchen? Is there enough room?
Do you have pics of that area?
Also, Instead of closing the area off with doors, what about converting the entry area half-wall to a full, floor to ceiling wall?
This would help further define the entry and give you a longer wall to work with in your (good placement for your craft supply shelving).
Best to you.

Why don't you wait until you move in to evaluate the space and how you would like to use it.

pe88y, My posting crossed in 'the cloud' with yours.
I had no idea that you purchased a furnished home and that these pieces are not your selections.
In this case, I agree with tennisanyone.
Best to you.
