Which bar stools for our open concept kitchen?

We live in a loft-style apartment that is very open concept and modern. I want stools for the kitchen counter, but nothing that will obstruct the view to the living room, or that will create a closed-off feeling to the kitchen. I am having trouble deciding between stools or something with a back. I am debating between something like the two styles attached. Please let me know your thoughts, or suggest new styles! I have attached additional photos of the kitchen to provide the overall feel for the space.

Personally I would go with the backless stools. I think they'll accomplish your goal better of not blocking the view.

We have that black one in our new kitchen at the end of our island. It's a great sturdy stool. I put felt pads on the legs. I like to have a back to lean against. You can see through the back easily. The metal ones look uncomfortable.

Try this one. It may accomplish both comfort and low profile. It also goes well with you design. Price is right also

We just did a remodel and like you didn't want the stools obstructing the sight lines across the space. We ended up going with a saddle style stool. When not in use they tuck up under the island. Here is a picture.

As mentioned, either saddle back or regular stools but I would go with padded seats and not as simple as the ones in your picture.

Steffi, the backless ones in my picture are very comfortable. Very seldom do we find ourselves wanting to lean back. I don't miss having a back on them.

Kevin, I was wondering where you got them? They look really great in your space! We don't have children in the house, and my husband won't sit on them, so really they are just for aesthetic purposes and for when guests come over. But I like the tufted top on the ones in your photo.
