I am looking for some suggestions on what to put on top of my armoire. It has. Been bare now for too long!

What room is this in, a bedroom? Can you show the rest of the room?

Is this in a bedroom or a family room? What other colors are in the room?

I would like to see something up there, but without seeing the rest of the room, I do not know what direction to suggest. Do you collect things or have an interest in something, or is there a theme in this room?

It would have to be a low piece since there is not a lot of room for height there. I am thinking something to match the handles in maybe a low dish/bowl? Open weave? Put some colored glass balls to match the accent colors you just mentioned

I'd put a garland light. It's very modern; it adds colors and light. It's a beautiful decoration. You can see more colors @ http://www.hooplaroom.com/category_s/1850.htm

Get a small oblong mirror. In front of it put a night light Then a small glass vase with scented purple rocks. It does not have to be those very things but you want to repeat your room colors up there with light and reflection...simply.

There is no rule that every horizontal surface has to be decorated, let it be.

Christina says it has been bare and wants something up there. Why not make suggestions for what she is asking for?

A big basket of purple hydrangeas. Some artificial flowers are very realistic looking. It can add some color and softness to the space. Your local craft store will have them.

Books, either coffee table books on their side, or smaller books with decorative bookends

Baskets, which perform double duty for storage and decor

Small statues

Hi Christina, I picture a large shallow decorative bowl working on the armoire . The cutwork bowl below, from Wisteria, is open and airy, and it's shape can be appreciated from all sides. Something similar, maybe in silver to contrast with the armoire color, would look awesome!

Okay...I quickly sketched something...a think tray (color of your choice), with three large books showing their spines with something small and pretty on top of the books. Next to that a photo on the wall.:)
