Over winter you can save some $, plan ahead, if you are very lucky grab your tax return too; and IF you have to have the power off or the place open to the outside, you can survive it better. Also spring/summer is a better time usually to have time off (especially amongst friends) to help.

Now some trades, have seasons where they're busy and times they're not. If I had to have tree work done, I would wait until February to first part of March; just before icky weather hit for spring and summer busy time and some tree surgeons would be on lean time; a $1400 tree felling could suddenly become $200-300 if you had cash in your hand. Other trades too, if you contract the job in the lean time of their year, and scheduling is easier on their side, you can sometimes get some off you normally wouldn't; of course always be careful and check references.

Thank you for your responses. I know the answers. I am wondering where the general public is and how much I need to educate the client. Very happy to see the results where I expected them.
