Need help re gap between air tub and solid surface-caulk or not?
February 9, 2014
Hi, I'm near the end of a MB remodel. The bathtub is a Bain Ultra Meridian 50 air tub (thermomasseur). It was installed as an under mount with a solid surface quartz deck. I've attached photos. My question is this- since the bathtub is an air tub that can be quite forceful with wave action (looks like a rolling boil on a stove) and the solid surface has a gap, I'm thinking the water will go into the gap area when the tub is filled and on full force. Should I have the contractor caulk the gap so it doesn't present a problem? Any advice appreciated. Thanks! PS The contractor doesn't know about this bathtub and how forceful the wave action can be.
