Need help with my living room and entry way
deenalarsonFebruary 19, 2014
We just moved in to a new home in TX and I'm trying to determine what size rugs to place in both the living room and entry way. Below are two pictures showing the same rug in both locations. I think I need a bigger rug for the living room area as I'd eventually like to add a chair and another end table to the space. Also not sure if the rug placed in the entryway is too big. Thanks for the advice!

The rug in the living room should go under the front legs of both the sofa and love seat. The rug in the hall looks like an acceptable size, but it might be a little too close to the door. Muddy or wet feet will not be kind to it.

What about turning the rug that is in the foyer?

Then, maybe get some tape to mark off where the rug needs to go in the living space.....with it being under the legs of the seating pieces and considering a new chair in the space, too. I understand not wanting to make it a solid line of tape, but tape a bit where it should be and then measure. How close does it come to rugs that are ready made in the closest size needed?

I agree. Turn the rug at the front door and it looks like a 8 X 10 rug should work for your living room.

are the rugs identical? I have used 2 identicals taped underneath to gain 1 big rug. As suggested, tuck under the legs of sofas and chairs.
