Need help for designing my room without changing Windows, walls/doors!
Bashir
March 8, 2014 in Design Dilemma
My room is 3.65 meters x 3.65 meters and I'm changing to a timber floor, and repainting the walls to white. I have window in the south part and a door in the north west (use your imagination to see it)
I need a study table, double sized bed and a LCD tv (42") and i need them to fit with a something to store my clothes and shoes into :) Thanks for the help!

You sound like a student. What level of budget are you on? You will get more responses with a pic or room plan with dimensions to door etc.

Yes I am a student, I'm willing to pay around $1000-$1500 but I may be changing my bed to a king single, the doors width is 85 centimeters and height is 204 centimetres. And also what colours would you recommend, I personally like a olive green or grey. I may do this type if colour.

Your bed plus mattress plus special size sheets will chew up alot of your budget. If you can stand the odd wrinkle, double sheets tied on will be cheaper, and more styles to choose from. I would recommend you look at Ikea, thrift stores, garage sales and eBay/gumtree etc.

Post a room plan (mud map is fine) showing the actual wall lengths to doors and windows, to see if furniture will fit. You will take this with you when you go shopping.

If you are in the Southern Hemisphere, south facing window won't be sunny, so keep your colours lighter.

Thankyou! Also my window is facing the west but I said south as an example compared to the door :) also should I mount the tv on the wall or just get a tv unit?

I have a bedroom that has the west wall with sliding door (which goes out to a small balcony) and narrow & long windows on either side of the slider. I get lots of morning light which I love but stuck on what I should do as a window treatment. Presently I have a rod going from one end of the wall to the other with a sheers. However, my cat loves hide behind the curtains and ends up snagging them. Besides, these look a little wimpy. Have any ideas?

First, what do you need light for? Do you do paperwork? Is your desk in your window? You'll be getting afternoon sun. I'm recommending LED lighting to people, but Fred says it has a way to go in brightness and affordability. I recommend sky tubes to homeowners. I've had 2 in one of my houses.
