Can a log cabin design work in coastal South Carolina?

My husband has wanted a log cabin forever but our land is near Charleston, SC. Realtor says beware of building log cabin style for future resale. Is there a middle ground? Looking for hybrid log cabin/coastal architectural design ideas.

You can always have a more rustic look inside, but I agree about not having the only log cabin in the subdivision.

You can go with knotty alder or pine door, cabinets, a more rustic solid wood floor, etc., etc. I'm sure one of the design pros can give you lots of good ideas so you can find a middle ground you can both live with.
