Kitchen Cabinet Decorating

My cabinets are staggered and should I decorate the tops of the cabinets with plants, decorative plates, dishes, etc. I didn't know if that was in style or should I just leave them plain as is.

Depends on your style. Personally, I like them plain

I agree it's a preference, but some decoration I think is nice.

I'm on the leave them plain side. I think pops of color in your linens and items on your counter top is the way to go. Stuff on top looks too busy and often dusty in many cases. I like to I role paper towel on the cabinet tops to make dust clean up easy.

There will be a lot of dust and kitchen residue up there to clean. Keep it simple. Something you can put in dishwasher. Nothing that you need on a regular basis (can not be reached easily).

I would live them plain and start to use and decorate the kitchen first.

Whatever you do, please don't put a bunch of fake plants or fake ivy up there. I see that all the time, and it's so tacky.

Leave it plain. Decorations over the cabinets too often look fussy and cluttered.

I forgot to mention...I like the color of your cabinets. My sister-in-law has a few interesting and colorful pottery pieces above her cabinets, and it looks good. I think it just depends upon what you put up there and how well it coordinates with the rest of your kitchen.

sooper_mom, thank you. I too have some pottery pieces from Mexico, I will try that, and if I think that it looks too much, I will leave it plain. Thanks again.
