Upper stacked cabinet size options
March 24, 2014 in Photo Questions
Could I consider 30" cabinets with an 18" cabinet stacked on top? There would then be room for approx 5-6" of crown molding. From a design point of view, do these measurements work?
Am I better off with a 48" cabinet that is divided where the top 1/4 section is glass and the bottom portion looks as a solid raised panel door giving the illusion of 2 stacked boxes? Would a 48" door be too cumbersome or heavy to operate daily?
What mfgs might offer this custom look?
Thank you.

I think the 48" upper cabinet option would be better. Yes, 48" is a tall door, but they can put magnetic latches at the top and bottom to help prevent the door from warping. I'm not sure the 30" with the 18" stacked on top would look as good. That's just my opinion though....you might have your kitchen designer draw it and it look just fine.
These cabinets were Crystal and Shiloh. Good Luck!
