Backspalsh tiling for only a section of wall?

I have some beautiful small mosaic glass tiles that I want to put up on the wall behind my kitchen sink. . Has anyone ever put up tiles to cover only a section of wall? I don't have enough to cover the entire wall and want to leave the rest of the wall untiled - just painted. I love a clean, modern look so don't want to build a heavy frame for the tiles. Can I just leave the edges undone? Or put a thin ine of grout/caulking? Please help as I love the tiles!!

You cannot leave the edges raw, you will hate the way it looks. What's used is a Schluter edge system-- http://www.schluter.com/2_8_rondec_step.aspx.

This is a fairly unusual application. I look forward to seeing what other advice you get! If you love the gorgeous tile, a trivet for the countertop, a small table or a cheese tray could all be prominent in the kitchen without the commitment.

You could install them and border them with a small trim tile, like a rope twist tile.

You can leave it rough, with a grout line around the perimeter but i much prefer the schluter system recommended by Shannon.

Thickness is key. The glass tiles on the corner of this tub skirt are about 1/8" thick. Factory finish. No on site polishing or metal trim needed
