Tile backsplash or not tile backsplash?

We are installing a brand new quartz countertop with a swirl of gray, cream and cranberry. (Shirebrook by Cambria) We are getting different opinions on what to do for a backsplash. I am leaning towards using the quartz to do a high backsplash over the cooktop and the sink area and nothing over the rest of the countertops. Should we add tiles to the rest of the walls above the countertop or just leave the painted wall?

Not yet. We are doing a total rehab and not even the cabinets are installed at this time. But when we order the countertop I need to have some idea what we want.

I am not sure what look you are going for but I just added grey glass subway tile to my kitchen and absolutely love the look. It's neutral and really works well with a busy countertop.
