There are three types of cabinets, custom, semi-custom and standard box cabinets. Whether you are able to standard box cabinets depends on your ceiling height and whether you will use trim at the top and the funds budgeted for the project.

Usually when adding on to existing cabinetry custom is the way to go to get a seamless look.

Photos or elevation drawings would be helpful.
