Loose lay vinyl meets carpet
April 2, 2014 in Design Dilemma
Have an area where we are putting down loose lay vinyl plank (Karndean) that will butt up against carpet. Would like to avoid use of a transition piece, and just have the edge of carpet rolled under.

Should I glue down last row (or 2) of vinyl, or use double sided carpet tape. Have seen indications that either would work. Any pros/cons of either?

Going with county oak color. Won't be installed for a few weeks yet.

Here are some final pics. I absolutely love this vinyl floor. Although specs say floor needs to be level, I can assure you mine is not. Concrete basement floor. You can feel imperfections, and it's only been in a couple months, but it contours to floor well, and click together vinyl wasn't an option without leveling floor which would have been a huge undertaking.

transition was done with tack strip at first, but we kept getting poked through the carpet, so i had contractor get carpet guy back to fix it. It's unclear what was done to resolve it (yes, my contractor is useless), but it feels to me like a z-strip may have been put in. I did the loose lay myself, but left the carpet to the pros.
