What a great new space you have…congrats!
I know why your husband is a Lazy Boy fan (it's all about comfort), but the styling is not a favorite of mine 'cause there just isn't much style involved!
There are plenty of stylish AND comfortable choices out there as far as upholstered pieces are concerned, & if you're convincing enough, then I would venture out to your local Ethan Allen store to check out the Bennett sectional.
It's extremely comfy, affordable, customizable & durable (great quality)…this would DEFINITELY be my first recommendation!
If this isn't an option, then I would place @ the top of my advice list a large area rug…most specifically a 9'x12' indoor/outdoor rug. They're SO very easy to keep clean, extremely reasonable, & it'll provide some good noise-dampening for what I'm sure now is an echo chamber.
Next, I would slide your loveseat closer to the sofa to create a semblance of a sectional then place a side table w/lamp between the two (you really need some task lighting so that you don't always have to use your overhead lights). Your floor lamp can be placed on the other side of the sofa…it's useless in the corner where it is currently.
Next; floor pillows…big ones! They're great for everyone regardless of age & can be stacked in a corner for continued visual interest when not in use.
Of course your leather pieces need some fabric pillows as well, so just pick out your favorite colors & patterns & start ordering!
If need be, I would also add a fabric-covered ottoman…maybe even a storage one on casters…that would function as your coffee table & extra seating if necessary (the kids table can slide off to the other wall when not in use to make some extra room).
The last thing I would add to your space would be wall-to-wall traversing panels on the french door wall so that you have total privacy & additional sound absorbing capability.
