Composite deck tiles.

I got some samples of composite deck tiles. Loving the look but they get very hot in the sun. Anyone have experience with these or composite decking? Hot do you Handel the heat? Are wood/ teak tiles cooler?

Wood dissipates heat, so wood will always be cooler than plastics... However, even it gets hot in the summer (just not as hot!)

In CA we have summer more days than not. Those composite tile are third degree burn hot in April! I'll get some wood samples.

Hi Joanna,

Wood is always the best option in weather like CA (even more so in southern CA). Wood dissipates heat and remain cooler during days when the sun is beating down on it. Remember that color is also important and lighter colored woods like Brazilian Teak (Cumaru) will bounce off more sunlight than darker colors. Like ASVInteriors said, wood products under the sun will get hot just not as hot as plastics.
