Need help decorating tall (two-story) front porch

I've just married and my husband's house (now ours) has an ample front porch -- in height!! I have no idea what to do as far as furniture or topiary. The door is off center, the length of the porch is not the full length of the house; in fact, the porch is rather small overall compared to the size of our home. I'm hoping to change the door as well, though not sure what style would go best. All suggestions welcomed!

Now to the question at hand....You have room for a bench to the right of the door and two chairs, each in front of the lower windows, with a table in between for drinks and books, etc. I would not use white, but a darker color to contrast with the brick, a dark bronze would be pretty. Dark bronze/ black urns with colorful flowers on either side of the door would add needed color. Ferns would also be pretty. Window Boxes and Containers Elaine M. Johnson Urban Landscape Design

I love the black urn in bluenan's post. I would consider painting your shutters black and add some color for the door. In addition to the furniture, I would see about adding some large coach lights to either side of the door. Congratulations on your marriage.
