The cost of moving the fireplace might not be worth it, depending on how the room is currently configured.

I would like the fireplace on being centered on wall also. It just looks better. But, i have to ask why they didn't do so in the first place ? I'm thinking your fireplace lies in a corner (or close to one), whereby, when fireplace is used it heat ups up two exterior walls instead of just one. They might've done that for energy efficient reasons

They did it for decorating reasons.
The fireplace is to the left and then to the right is a flat screen at eye level. They wanted to be different than placing the tv over the fireplace which then usually ends up too high and hard to watch when your seated

In all fireplaces i've seen they were in line with the chimney, i.e. the smoke went straight up to outside. Is this case here ?

Is it a wood burning fireplace?
