Light switch question

Our home has old cream light switch plates and I was hoping to replace them with oil rubbed bronze plates but the center switches would still be cream. Would you still replace or what should I do ?

I replaced mine. My house is old, and has both ivory and white switches, depending on the room, and when it was updated. I think it will be fine to replace. I'm not sure what variety of colors the actual switches come in, but if you think it will bother you, you could always replace or have those replaced too..
I love uniting the light switch covers to the decor of the room.

I would update the plates and the switches too. You can shop for them anywhere. Here is a link to one source, but I'm not familiar with this particular company. Google it, you will find many vendors for ORB electrical wall plates and switches http://www.switchhits.com/collection/forged-brass/product/oil-rubbed-bronze

I wouldn't replace them. I would paint them to match the color of the walls for an integrated look.

^^^That might be a better more cost effective solution. Or even painting the switch plates to ORB - good idea megan

Megan has the idea. Several of our customers like to get artsy and paint over their older switch plates creating the same color effect or get creative vs spending money on newer ones.

In the old days, they used to sell brown toggle switches. I think that the cream ones will still look good and be much easier to find against a dark switch plate.

Do not paint (or wallpaper) the switch plates to match the wall. Think of the plates as wall jewelry to compliment the room, not just blend into the background.

Use brown, which you can still buy at Lowe's and then ORB covers. That's what we did when we redid our kitchen. You can kind of see them in the picture below.

Don't paint switches or switch plates. In your case, replace the switches with brown ones.
