Vertical or horizontal tongue & groove for my bathroom

Hi Houzz-ers

We're remodeling our small "master" bathroom to get a slightly larger shower and to update the materials.

The current design:
-mostly white bathroom, (polished marble subway for shower, porcelain "wood" floor in a whitewash)
-white vanity counter and light wood vanity.
- double sinks
-one large framed behind and double mirrored medicine cabinets on either side of vanity - flush mounted to wall.

I've included the first two photos as our inspiration. (The others are a picture if the bathroom now for size reference). We'll

I'm planning on using tongue and groove paneling on the walls and trying to decide two things:
1. Should I run the panels horizontal or vertical?
2. Should I panel all 4 walls or just 1 or 2?

I know running them horizontal should make the bathroom look bigger but running them vertical will look like higher ceilings (they are 8ft)

What to do? What to do?

Thank you for your opinions!

Where in the room is the entry door?
I would probably do all four walls, since it is a boxy room. This will give you the calm feeling your inspiration photos show.

We photoshopped a picture with vertical and horizontal lines (for a large dormer exterior to see which direction would look better(in cedar)
Both looked great and bigger, no matter which way.

Last comment: personally I find the horizontal more nautical looking, the vertical perhaps more cottage like.

More contempory is horizontal; more traditional vertical.
Vertical adds visual height, but horizontal adds visual width
All four walls would add a sense of continuity but be careful at joins that you follow exactly all the way around...
In your small area I would advise going all the way around...
