This bland wall!

We recently completed a total backyard renovation that features an outdoor kitchen, pizza oven, pool and fire pit. The seating for 10-12 is fantastic, but now that it's complete I'm left with this big empty space behind the built-in seating area. This is definitely an urban environment, and garages share property lines like in my case. However, I can't help but think something needs to happen here. Vine covering could be nice, but I have no idea how to make it work (the space between the back of the seats and the wall is a few inches of dirt, but there's no way sun could reach any new plantings). I AM STUMPED! Ideas?

How about some metal art or terracotta type art on the wall? Or tile mosaic?

Or you could do a living wall (vertical garden)

Hi there! You did a great job on your backyard renovation! I see many enjoyable evenings being spent out there, for sure!

I am wondering if you could hang outdoor lanterns from the eaves of the garage? Alternatively, maybe mount them on the garage wall using brackets? Depending on the size of the lanterns, you may inky need about three for good impact. I think the bigger they are, the more presence they will have.

The lanterns below are from Pottery Barn, as are the brackets. I'm thinking Pier One will have several options as well, if you like the idea.
