Need ideas on what to do with this type of rounded ceiling.

We are getting ready to have the ceiling and walls repainted but have always disliked the unfinished look of these walls. We have the same thing in our bedroom as well. All other rooms in the house have crown molding but not sure what do with this.

Lots of options, just how much do you want to spend? I could see some wood beams possibly with beadboard here (they make faux beams which are quite nice, just google faux beams and check out the site. I have seen them installed, quite easy. Also Armstrong has a nice beadboard ceiling which installs quite easy. We did ours recently. Hard to tell how high your ceiling is here.

HI -- My thinking also ... some nice white washed T&G cedar wood and added beams (opt ) . Or paint the ceiling and the walls the same color which is usual for vaulted rooms . Grass cloth or a textured linen looking wall paper would add interest . The horizontal texture would help to bring the visual height down and add warmth . Some big art would help too.

Dark wood beams on the ceiling will bring contrast.

I would paint the ceiling the wall color 50% with white 50%. paint store would mix it for you - and/or I would hang something decorative and circle shaped centered on the peak and down about a foot or two. it is odd.

Cut the vault down to size with crown to stop the eye drifting upwards. Decorate below the crown, where you live.

I wondered if some fake collar ties dark brown stained would look good like 6' on center. Wouldn't even have to crack the drywall. I haven't seen a rounded cathedral like that what is it like Dutch or something?

I did one like this not long ago..
Laminated a center beam from good quality lumber..
Used a dado blade on a table saw to create lapped boards for the sides, they all melded into the laminated beam.
Total cost was very low, mostly lumber costs.
